Softball Recap: Kenyon-Wanamingo Takes a Loss

Kenyon-Wanamingo dropped their record down to 6-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Hayfield Vikings, falling 16-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 10-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Kenyon-Wanamingo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Olson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Hayfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Hayfield's side, they got a great performance from Elaina Masching as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nora Bamlet, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenna Selk, who went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenyon-Wanamingo will head out to take on Randolph at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hayfield, they will take on United South Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
