Football Game Preview: North Tahoe Lakers vs. Pershing County Mustangs

North Tahoe hasn't had much luck against Pershing County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lakers will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

North Tahoe's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Yerington 34-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lakers.

North Tahoe found their leader in sophomore Aksel Atkins, who rushed for 44 yards and one score, and also picked up 76 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something North Tahoe proved: they limited Yerington to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Mustangs' Ayden Montes, who rushed for 94 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also threw for 145 yards and one TD on only nine passes.
