            Basketball Recap: Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils vs. Locust Fork Hornets        
        
		
        
        
            Mortimer Jordan entered their tilt with Locust Fork on Thursday with two consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy  59-42 victory over the Locust Fork Hornets. Given the Blue Devils' advantage  in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings  (they are ranked 21st, while the Hornets are ranked 129th), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Mortimer Jordan's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Brinley Funderburk, who  went 6 for 10  en route to 17  points.  Mattie Machen was another key player,  going 6 of 8  on her way to 14 points.

Mortimer Jordan's win was  their fifth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 16-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Locust Fork, they moved to 12-8 with that  defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
 Mortimer Jordan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next  contest,  a  57-40  victory against Jasper on the 24th. As for Locust Fork, they will look to defend their home court  on Monday against Douglas  at 5:00  p.m.
