Basketball Recap: Five Straight Home Wins for Mortimer Jordan

Mortimer Jordan entered their tilt with Locust Fork on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 59-42 victory over the Locust Fork Hornets. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Hornets are ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mortimer Jordan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brinley Funderburk, who went 6 for 10 en route to 17 points. Mattie Machen was another key player, going 6 of 8 on her way to 14 points.

Despite the loss, Locust Fork had strong showings from Haley Dutton, who posted 12 points and three steals, and Lynnleigh Tawbush, who went 6 for 13 en route to 16 points.
