Baseball Recap: Pelham Has No Trouble Against Conval

Pelham barely beat ConVal the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pythons put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 9-3 win on Tuesday. The Pythons haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Jake Davidson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Pelham's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Pelham got a massive performance out of Zach Dutton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Dutton also scored a run, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Carvello, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Pelham's record is now 5-3. As for ConVal, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pelham will face off against Sanborn Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pythons are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for ConVal, they will take on Souhegan at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sabers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
