Softball Recap: St. Joseph Central Irish vs. Tolsia Rebels
St. Joseph Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 6-2 to the Tolsia Rebels. The Irish were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rebels earlier this season, when they won 8-5.
Kate Oxley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Anderson was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Alaina Day was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
St. Joseph Central's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Tolsia, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Central will host Green at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
