Basketball Recap: Green City Skates Past Linn County with Ease

There's no place like home for Green City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They breezed past the Linn County Mustangs to the tune of 68-14 on Tuesday. The Gophers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Green City to victory were Jaryn Hatcher and Macy Jeffries. Hatcher went 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists, while Jeffries went 12 for 15 en route to 25 points and four steals. Hatcher's evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Lily Crist, who posted seven points along with ten assists and seven boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Green City was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Green City's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points over those games. As for Linn County, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.

Coincidentally, Green City and Linn County will both be playing La Plata the next time they take the court. Linn County will host La Plata at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Green City will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
