Basketball Recap: Independence Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Amarius Rowel and Davian Leon

It was a Battle of the Birds when Independence took on Arroyo Grande on Tuesday. The Independence Falcons took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Arroyo Grande Eagles. The Falcons' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the defeat, Independence had strong showings from Davian Leon, who posted nine points along with five boards and four steals, and Amarius Rowel, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 17 points. Leon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Arroyo Grande, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.
