Basketball Recap: St. Cecilia Comes Up Short

St. Cecilia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Grand Island Central Catholic Crusaders, falling 81-39. The Bluehawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, St. Cecilia still got an impressive performance from Aiden Schieffer, who on his way to 20 points. That was a full 51.3% of St. Cecilia's points, marking the fourth time in a row Schieffer has posted more than a third of the team's points. Karsten Zwiener also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Braylon Wolfe continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grand Island Central Catholic, en route to 16 points and three steals. What's more, Wolfe also posted a 55% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Thomas Liban was another key player, putting up 12 points.

St. Cecilia's loss dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

St. Cecilia has already played their next game, a 65-40 defeat against Centura on the 21st. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-47 loss against Sidney on the 15th.
