Basketball Recap: Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Takes a Loss

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 72-31 loss at the hands of the Beech Grove Hornets. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-12.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter's loss came despite strong showings from Zita Eke and Lilly Butler. Eke went 5 of 10 on her way to 11 points and eight boards, while Butler went 5 for 11 en route to 10 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Mylee Boling was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 14 rebounds for Beech Grove. With that strong performance, Boling is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Mariyah Marshall was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-12. As for Beech Grove, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter will challenge Covenant Christian at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. Covenant Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. As for Beech Grove, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 52-31 loss against Triton Central on the 30th.
