Football Recap: Ropes Eagles vs. Gruver Greyhounds
Ropes and Gruver squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Ropes had to settle for second. They fell 23-13 to the Greyhounds. Having soared to a lofty 67 points in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the loss, Ropes still got an impressive performance from Zayden Pittman, who picked up 67 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Pittman also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making 11 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending two passes.

Even if they lost, Ropes' defense still kept up the pressure with 12 sacks. Jaivyth Cruz led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself. A big part of Gruver's win came down to the chemistry between Briggs Satterfield and his top target Mason Lankford. Satterfield rushed for 57 yards and two scores while Lankford picked up 131 receiving yards and one touchdown. Those 131 receiving yards gave Lankford a new career-high.
Ropes' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Gruver, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Ropes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gruver, they will take on Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greyhounds will need to watch out since the Elks have now posted at least 31 points in their last six matchups.
