Seton Catholic has gone 9-1 against Castle Rock recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. Seton Catholic will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
While Seton Catholic's win against Columbia wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bruins 3-2.
Ben Ratigan looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Case Iverson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. Graham Dumas was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Seton Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Castle Rock got themselves on the board against Heritage on Monday, but Heritage never followed suit. They blew past the Timberwolves 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Evan Chisholm looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Stuart Teter was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Castle Rock's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was JJ Soden, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Seton Catholic's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Castle Rock, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Seton Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Castle Rock struggles in that department as they've averaged .454. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Seton Catholic got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Castle Rock by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
