Basketball Recap: Payne Fitzmaurice's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lake Mary Prep over Faith Christian

After flying high against Orangewood Christian last Tuesday, Lake Mary Prep came back down to earth. The Lake Mary Prep Griffins received a blow on Thursday as they fell 69-53 to the Faith Christian Lions. The defeat continues a trend for the Griffins in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost seven in a row.

Lake Mary Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Payne Fitzmaurice, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cael Ogden, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Lake Mary Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Faith Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.

Lake Mary Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-52 victory against International Community on the 9th. As for Faith Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-44 defeat against Foundation Academy on the 6th.
