Basketball Recap: Zach Montgomery's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cornerstone Christian Academy over Statesville Christian

The matchup between Cornerstone Christian Academy and Statesville Christian on Thursday hardly resembled the 42-19 effort from their previous meeting. The Cornerstone Christian Academy Crusaders lost 71-45 to the Statesville Christian Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-19 back in December of 2024.

Cornerstone Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Zach Montgomery, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Landon Farthing, who put up nine points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Cornerstone Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 2-10. As for Statesville Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.

Cornerstone Christian Academy will challenge Covenant Classical at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Statesville Christian, they and Liberty Preparatory Christian Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
