Softball Preview: San Pasqual Golden Eagles vs. Del Norte Nighthawks
San Pasqual hasn't had much luck against Del Norte recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will host the Nighthawks at 4:00 p.m. San Pasqual is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
San Pasqual will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Rancho Bernardo, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Golden Eagles came out on top against the Broncos by a score of 7-4 on Friday.
The team relied heavily on Brooklynn Clark, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Verece, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Del Norte sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over San Marcos on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Nighthawks have posted against the Knights since May 10, 2022.
Lainey LLamas was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
San Pasqual's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-7. As for Del Norte, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8-1.
