Pewaukee faced Brookfield East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Pirates came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans, sneaking past 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Pirates, who have now won four matchups in a row.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Pewaukee got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 29-27, 19-25, 15-11.

Mia Hudson paced Pewaukee's offense, picking up nine kills. Hudson got some help from Hannah Padilla and her 13 assists. Hudson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Kiley Eske, each putting up two.

Despite the loss, Brookfield East still got an impressive performance from Izzy Green, who had 14 assists and eight digs.

Pewaukee's record now sits at 17-7. As for Brookfield East, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-4.

Pewaukee has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Kimberly on the 27th. As for Brookfield East, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Wisconsin Lutheran on the 27th.
