Baseball Recap: Cibola Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Cibola and Carlsbad squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Cibola had to settle for second. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavemen/Cavegirls. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavemen/Cavegirls earlier this season, when they won 8-4.

Cibola got a good showing from Elias Miera, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Miera has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Daniel Kean made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Zach Wood was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Cibola has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-12 record this season. As for Carlsbad, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

While Cibola had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
