Volleyball Recap: Shadyside's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

After flying high against Bellaire on Monday, Shadyside came back down to earth. The Tigers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the River Pilots on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Pilots: they've now lost five in a row.

While Shadyside ultimately came up short, they really made River work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-11, 20-25, 27-25.

Aubrey Nippert paced Shadyside's offense, picking up 15 kills. Nippert got some help from Ali Weatherson and her 36 assists. Finally, Sophie Boltz kept Shadyside's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Having lost for the first time this season, Shadyside fell to 2-1. As for River, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Shadyside will head out to square off against The Linsly School at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for River, they will host Monroe Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
