Basketball Game Preview: Groton Tigers vs. West Central Trojans

The Groton Tigers and the West Central Trojans will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Groton heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Thursday. They lost 66-41 to Sioux Falls Christian. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, West Central faced Lennox in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. West Central fell 51-43 to Lennox. The match marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Groton's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for West Central, their loss dropped their record down to 20-4.

Groton ended up a good deal behind West Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 54-38. Can Groton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
