In Thursday's Canine Competition, Heartland prevailed. They strolled past the Osceola Bulldogs with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 50-34. This was payback for the Huskies, who suffered a 56-26 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Heartland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emerysn Oswald, who went 6-for-11 on her way to 16 points. What's more, Oswald also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isabel Johnson, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Despite the loss, Osceola saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bella Recker dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 boards. Recker is becoming a predictor of Osceola's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 8-4 (and 1-7 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Emersyn Prososki, who scored six points and five boards.

Heartland's record now sits at 7-13. As for Osceola, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Heartland does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Osceola, they have already played their next game, a 57-45 victory against Shelby-Rising City on the 14th.
