Baseball Recap: Jeremy Powell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead White Knoll over Chapin

White Knoll extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-18 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-3 to the Chapin Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Timberwolves of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

White Knoll saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jeremy Powell, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Chapin, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

On Chapin's side, Reese Jolly tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Jolly has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

While White Knoll had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
