Basketball Game Preview: Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks vs. Christian Educational Consortium Cougars

The Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks will take on the Christian Educational Consortium Cougars in a tournament on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Fairfax HomeSchool took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They walked away with a 63-53 win over Christ Chapel Academy. The Hawks haven't had any issues with Christ Chapel Academy recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Monday. Christian Educational Consortium simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Academy for Individual Excellence 77-50. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Christian Educational Consortium had established a 23 point advantage.

Christian Educational Consortium's win came from a few key players Fairfax HomeSchool will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Deven Moore, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 34 points and six rebounds. He is becoming a predictor of Christian Educational Consortium's success: when he posts at least 15 points the team is 13-6 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Jack Patterson was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 25 points and nine boards.

Christian Educational Consortium smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Fairfax HomeSchool's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. As for Christian Educational Consortium, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 19-14.

Fairfax HomeSchool came up short against Christian Educational Consortium when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 81-76. Can Fairfax HomeSchool avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
