Basketball Recap: Thomas Sumter Academy Generals vs. Palmetto Christian Academy
The Thomas Sumter Academy Generals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Palmetto Christian Academy on the road and fell 73-36. Thomas Sumter Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-22.
Cokey Suddeth continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Palmetto Christian Academy, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Suddeth has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelaide Suddeth, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Thomas Sumter Academy dropped their record down to 5-5 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.2 points per game. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas Sumter Academy will challenge the Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Palmetto Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Orangeburg Prep will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
