Softball Recap: West Beats Clifton for Their Third Straight Win

West waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Clifton Cubs by a score of 5-1. The Trojans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cubs, too.

Laynie Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Mayhue, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

West's record is now 12-14-1. As for Clifton, they dropped their record down to 5-9-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

West will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cubs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
