Basketball Game Preview: Girard Trojans vs. Labette County Grizzlies

The Girard Trojans will challenge the Labette County Grizzlies on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Girard ended up a good deal behind Burlington and lost 62-48. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Wildcats are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Labette County played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 88-65 to Silver Lake. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), the Grizzlies still had to take the loss.

Labette County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Girard, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4-2.

Girard came up short against Labette County in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, falling 46-40. Can Girard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
