Basketball Recap: Douglas' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Douglas needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Hailee Koontz. The Douglas Tigers enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over the La Quinta Aztecs on Thursday thanks in part to Koontz, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Giana Zinke, who posted nine points. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Katelyn Vo, who had nine points. Another player making a difference was Natalie Tran, who put up eight points.

Douglas' record now sits at 3-7. As for La Quinta, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-4.

Douglas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-46 victory against Wilson on the 27th. As for La Quinta, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 28-26 win against University on the 27th.
