Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. West Seattle

Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against West Seattle recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Roosevelt Roughriders will head out to face off against West Seattle at 7:30 p.m. Roosevelt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

Roosevelt will head into Friday's contest on the come-up: they were handed a 23-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Eastside Catholic 59-56. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Roughriders' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Crusaders are ranked 25th).

Roosevelt can attribute much of their success to Elliot (EJ) Sommers, who posted 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Washington, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, West Seattle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Edmonds-Woodway.

West Seattle's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Roosevelt, their record is now 8-10.

Roosevelt couldn't quite finish off West Seattle when the teams last played on January 3rd and fell 51-48. Can Roosevelt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
