Basketball Recap: Polytech Takes a Loss

Polytech had to start their season on the road on Saturday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They came up short against the Washington Jaguars, falling 57-37. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

Leading Washington to victory were Elijah Thomas and KJ Jones. Thomas shot 90% from the field on his way to 22 points and four steals, while Jones went 10-for-16 to rack up 24 points and three steals. The matchup was Thomas' eighth in a row with at least 16 points. Michael White was another key player, putting up six points and seven boards.

Polytech will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on DuPont at 6:00 p.m. on the 5th. As for Washington, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 47-36 win against Queen Anne's County on the 22nd.
