Soccer Game Preview: Deer Creek vs. Putnam City

The Deer Creek Antlers will take on the Putnam City Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Creek's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Deer Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oklahoma's top teams: Edmond North, who was ranked 15th at the time (Deer Creek was ranked 20th). The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time Deer Creek have been dealt a draw since back in February.

Meanwhile, Putnam City sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Moore on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for Putnam City in their matchups with Moore: they've now won three in a row.

Putnam City's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. With that draw, Deer Creek's record moves to 7-5-2.

Deer Creek skirted past Putnam City 2-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Antlers repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
