Basketball Recap: Manual Thunderbolts vs. Regis Groff Fusion
Manual was the 92-47 winner over Regis Groff when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Manual Thunderbolts fell just short of the Regis Groff Fusion by a score of 73-71 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (60), the Thunderbolts still had to take the loss.
James Murdock was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 33 points and ten boards for Regis Groff. The contest was Murdock's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javelle Taylor, who went 7-for-15 en route to 18 points and five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Manual and nudges their season record down to 13-8. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 points. As for Regis Groff, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.
Manual does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Regis Groff, they and DSST: Conservatory Green will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. DSST: Conservatory Green knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Regis Groff likes a good challenge.
