Basketball Recap: South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers vs. LaVille Lancers
The South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 84-45 loss at the hands of LaVille. South Bend Career Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
Despite the defeat, South Bend Career Academy saw an underclassman step up: Davion Mitchell scored 23 points along with two steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Anand Ristow, who scored five points.
Collin Czarnecki continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for LaVille, scoring 26 points along with two steals. Czarnecki continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Michael Good was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with three steals.
South Bend Career Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for LaVille, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
South Bend Career Academy is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Knights at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Mishawaka Marian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Trailblazers in Indiana (the Knights are ranked 86th, while the Trailblazers are ranked 396th). As for LaVille, they will stay at home for another game and welcome the Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st.
