Basketball Recap: Foard Comes Up Short

Foard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Statesville Greyhounds. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-57 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Foard lost, don't look at Noah Hedrick. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 25 points. Malachi Mcknight was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Statesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kevin Bryant, who went 9 of 15 en route to 18 points and six boards. Bryant continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Manuel (MJ) Gladden, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Foard's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Statesville, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Foard is taking a road trip to face off against East Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Foard's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Statesville, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Iredell at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in West Iredell's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests.
