Basketball Recap: Premont Comes Up Short

After flying high against Kaufer on Thursday, Premont came back down to earth. The Premont Cowboys took a blow against the Agua Dulce Longhorns on Friday, falling 54-13. The Cowboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-9.

Agua Dulce's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alyssa Vinton, who went 7 of 13 en route to 14 points along with six boards and six steals. Vinton has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Calvez, who posted six points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Premont's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-13. As for Agua Dulce, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 21-4.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing La Villa the next time they take the court. Agua Dulce will host La Villa at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Premont will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on January 31st.
