Softball Recap: Weed Takes a Loss

Weed was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Plumas Charter Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 6-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Maddie LaDue was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Lilly Hughes was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.

Weed's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Plumas Charter, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Weed has already played their next match, an 11-10 loss against CORE Butte on the 20th. As for Plumas Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 victory against Redding Christian on the 20th.
