Baseball Recap: Mt. Zion's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Mattoon on Saturday, Mt. Zion came back down to earth. The Braves fell just short of the Monticello Sages by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sages apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Mt. Zion's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Monticello, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Zion will welcome Pleasant Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals' pitching crew has only allowed 2.1 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Monticello, they will host Bloomington Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
