Aquinas Academy had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-9 to make it four. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union Area Scotties. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Scotties this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 on Tuesday.

Aquinas Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giovanni Spotts, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

As for Union Area, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Union Area's side, Cole Harper made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Harper has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Swayze Reighert, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dom Cucitrone, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
