Basketball Recap: Crawford Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Miranda Betson and Keslyn Vogel

Crawford suffered their biggest defeat since February 23, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers, falling 57-34. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 215th in Nebraska, while the Doggers are ranked 19th in Wyoming).

Crawford's loss came despite strong showings from Keslyn Vogel and Miranda Betson. Vogel dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, while Betson posted three points. Vogel has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lingle-Fort Laramie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brenly Shipp, who went 9 of 13 to rack up 20 points and three steals. What's more, Shipp also posted a 69% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Skyla Wunder, who scored 12 points along with five assists and four steals.

Crawford's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, their victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crawford will face off against Banner County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, they will challenge Rock River at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
