Baseball Recap: SouthWest Edgecombe Comes Up Short

SouthWest Edgecombe was the 4-2 winner over Ayden - Grifton when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

SouthWest Edgecombe saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Mears, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

SouthWest Edgecombe's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Ayden - Grifton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

While SouthWest Edgecombe had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
