Preview: Mainland Buccaneers vs. Potter's House Christian Lions
Having just played yesterday, the Mainland Buccaneers will jump right back in to play the Potter's House Christian Lions at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mainland posted their biggest win since November 24, 2023 on Thursday. They blew past Melbourne 63-41. Given Mainland's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Melbourne is ranked 343rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Narayan Thomas was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was DeAndre Newland, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Potter's House Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 77-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Rock National. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game two weeks ago (55), Potter's House Christian still had to take the loss.
Mainland has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Potter's House Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6.
