Preview: L.C. Bird Skyhawks vs. Huguenot Falcons
L.C. Bird is 10-0 against Huguenot since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The L.C. Bird Skyhawks will look to defend their home court against the Huguenot Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
L.C. Bird suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were dealt a 54-23 loss at the hands of Manchester. While losing is never fun, L.C. Bird can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Manchester is ranked second).
L.C. Bird's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kylie Kent, who scored six points along with ten rebounds, and Kaleah Walker who scored three points.
Meanwhile, Huguenot had to suffer through a rough 40-8 loss at the hands of Clover Hill. Huguenot was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-4.
L.C. Bird's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Huguenot, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for L.C. Bird against Huguenot in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 54-10 victory. With L.C. Bird ahead 37-2 at the half, the match was all but over already.
