Softball Recap: Mishawaka Marian Comes Up Short

Mishawaka Marian extended their losing streak to nine on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-10 in the process. They lost 11-2 to the South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 two weeks ago.

Mishawaka Marian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Weber, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was Weber's first of the season.

As for South Bend Saint Joseph, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On South Bend Saint Joseph's side, Kiley Weinberg and Jakayla McKeel did most of the damage at the plate: Weinberg went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while McKeel went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI McKeel has posted since back in May of 2024. Olivia Borsodi was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mishawaka Marian will host Michigan City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.38 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, they will be playing at home against Elkhart at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
