Baseball Recap: Bauxite Wins Going Away Against Mayflower

Bauxite barely beat Mayflower the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bauxite Miners put the hurt on the Mayflower Eagles with a sharp 10-0 win on Thursday. The Miners haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Kade Deno made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in triples.

In other batting news, Bauxite let Ethan Kelley and Tony Fox run wild. Kelley scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Fox went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Bauxite is undefeated when Fox posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Avery Heidelberg was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Bauxite was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Bauxite's record now sits at 4-2. As for Mayflower, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bauxite will welcome Smackover at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Smackover has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.8 runs per game on average), something Bauxite will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mayflower, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Mayflower Eagles face off against Maumelle Charter Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
