Softball Recap: Torrey Pines' Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Torrey Pines had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs by a score of 5-1. The Falcons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mustangs, too.

The team relied heavily on Claire McEvoy, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Sara Mihalinec was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Torrey Pines pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for San Dieguito Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3-1.
