Recap: Cupertino Pioneers vs. Santa Clara Bruins
After a 59-48 finish the last time they played, the Cupertino Pioneers and the Santa Clara Bruins decided to play a little more cautiously this time around. Cupertino walked away with a 26-13 win over Santa Clara on Friday. Given Cupertino's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while Santa Clara is ranked 579th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Max Feldan, who scored 13 points along with three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Barba, who scored eight points.
Cupertino pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Santa Clara, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Cupertino will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Santa Clara, they will head out on the road to face off against Lynbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lynbrook has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 181 points over their last three games.
