League recap: Blanco stuns Rogers in upset

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rogers, who took down 108th ranked Rogers, 28-27. Sam Isenberg threw for 111 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 62 yards in the win.

Blanco moved up to 393 from 571 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-2 Region IV District 14. The Panthers were able to make the jump by beating the Eagles 28-27.

Schulenburg's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ross Bludau threw for 128 and two touchdowns and Jeffrey Lara had 81 yards receiving. On the ground Jyron McKenzie chipped in 73 yards. Davondre Lewis-Hall helped Schulenburg's passing attack out by catching three balls for 36 yards.

Schulenburg's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Shorthorns feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bludau has thrown for 1054 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Lara has 22 catches for 593 yards. McKenzie leads the league in rushing with 538 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Shorthorns take on Blanco. At the moment, Schulenburg is in first, while Danny Rogers' team is in sixth.

Tommy Bludau's team was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in 2A-2 Region IV District 14. The Shorthorns vanquished Randolph 42-18 earlier in the week.
