Basketball Recap: Cinnaminson Comes Up Short

Cinnaminson fought the good fight in their overtime game against Medford Tech on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 75-74 to the Medford Tech Jaguars. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Jaguars are ranked 191st).

Medford Tech's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daquan Stratton led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Stratton is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nesta Rice, who posted 21 points and five assists.

Cinnaminson's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-5. As for Medford Tech, they pushed their record up to 5-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

When Cinnaminson and Medford Tech next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Cinnaminson will face off against Burlington Township and their nine-game winning streak at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Similarly, Medford Tech will try to stop KIPP Cooper Norcross' three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
