A District 16 recap October 29, 2013
Mitchell extended the longest winning streak in A District 16 this week by beating Hillcrest, 26-9. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
KIPP Collegiate and Oakhaven played the most contested game in the league this week, with KIPP Collegiate eventually emerging with a 8-6 victory.
The Vikings' dynamic duo of James Stittiams and Robert Wilkins proved tough for Mitchell to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stittiams threw for 119 yards and 1 touchdown and Wilkins had 81 yards receiving. Vincent Roberts helped Hillcrest's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 38 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Nathan Cole's team's Tomadreus Trezevant and Dejuan Mcquarters have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Trezevant has thrown for 1,137 yards this season, while Mcquarters has 32 catches for 573 yards. Delquinton Boddie from Hillcrest leads the league in rushing with 536 yards.
A big matchup in A District 16 this week will be when Julius Jackson Jr.'s team takes on the phoenix. As it stands, the Vikings are in second, while KIPP Collegiate is in sixth.
The phoenix made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,049 from 13,125. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 8-6 victory over the Hawks last week.
