Baseball Recap: Oakland Find Success

Oakland posted their closest win since April 22, 2024 on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Oakridge Warriors 11-10. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Jachai Myers tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Oakland is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Oakland's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alex Vanassche, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Vanassche a new career-high in doubles (two). Another was Gavin Williams, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Oakland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Oakland's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Oakridge, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-3 record.

Looking ahead, Oakland will challenge Brookings-Harbor at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oakridge, they will head out to face off against Umpqua Valley Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
