Softball Recap: Conneaut Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Edgewood, Conneaut was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Lakeside Dragons with a sharp 15-7 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Lexi Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Those runs were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Conneaut got a massive performance out of Maddy Drew, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Grace Todaro was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI and one run.

Conneaut always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Conneaut's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Lakeside, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Conneaut beat the Dragons by a score of 14-5 later that day.
