John Hay dropped their record down to 8-10 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Rhodes Rams, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Rhodes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in April.

Erek Williams was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of John Hay's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Zack Custodio was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
As for Rhodes, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.
On Rhodes' side, Cesar Rios made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Rios has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Rhodes got a massive performance out of Jesus Cardenas, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Cardenas has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Roberto Benitez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Coming up, John Hay will be playing at home against Bowsher at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rhodes, they will venture away from home to face off against Fairview at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
