Basketball Recap: Rockwell Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Salt Lake Academy came into Tuesday's contest looking for another win against Rockwell, but Cesare Baiardi wouldn't allow it. The Rockwell Marshals were the clear victor by a 62-41 margin over the Salt Lake Academy Griffins on Tuesday thanks in part to Baiardi, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards. He has become a key player for Rockwell: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight rebounds, but 6-11 otherwise.

Elias Sekona was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. He has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played.

Salt Lake Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aaron Zamora, who posted 18 points and five rebounds. That's the most boards Zamora has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Braylon Brock, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Rockwell's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-11. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Salt Lake Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.

When Rockwell and Salt Lake Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Rockwell will face off against Non Varsity Opponent and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Salt Lake Academy will try to stop Utah Military Academy - Hill Field's three-game winning streak when the meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
